Baking away! Well, for a few years now I haven't done any real Christmas baking. Miss Kitty conned me into baking this year because she is in love with cooking. And how can you say no to a toddler that wants to learn to cook and bake? Well, you can't. We made sugar cookies for our neighbours. She had so much fun stirring, rolling and using cookie cutters. But the artist in her came out with the sprinkles and icing. She even behaved herself and only ate the sweet bits after we finished decorating.
This mini scene makes me feel like I sweat and laboured making something complex and involved. Living through minis....the way it should be!

ReplyDeleteI'm banking on her culinary success to fund my retirement ;)
DeleteDon't save for retirement, just raise brilliant kids! Says the mom of Summa Cum Laude Chemistry Grad! I tell her if she doesn't want me to live with her, she better put me into a great retirement home!
DeleteYou know what Kat, I think that mini baking is a whole lot more fun to do too, but it is a terrific mother daughter sharing time and although my daughter is now grown up and self-sufficient in the kitchen, I treasure those times that we shared baking cupcakes and making BIG messes with colored frostings and candy sprinkles! :D
ReplyDeleteWe had so much fun baking! Sprinkles everywhere...then she ended up licking the sprinkles, frosting and chocolate chips off of her own cookies. I ate the soggy left over (sprinkle free) cookie in the end. My mommy treat!
DeleteLove it! How did you make the icing bag? I want to make one of those!
ReplyDeleteUmmmmm! Maybe I will make a post about the icing bag! The quick and dirty: I took a tiny plastic bag (like the ones minis are sold in), or even a corner of thin sandwich bag. I snipped a good size corner off the bag. I took a small ball of white clay, warmed it in my hands and stuck it into the bag corner. Took a few tries to get the right size to look to scale. I then tied it of with string. Used my finger nail to make the wrinkles on the bag. Then I snipped the corner off and forced some clay through!
DeleteCool! Thank you! I am going to try that!
DeleteYum yum! :D Pour me some milk, please!
ReplyDeleteMiss Kitty might fight you for it. Our milk now belongs to Santa or so I'm told. ;)
DeleteMini baking scenes are far more adorable than the real-size mess I end up with when cooking. Lovely! =0)
ReplyDeleteThanks Pepper!
DeleteI love this mini baking scene. Mother and daughter, or grandmother and grand child baking together is one of my favorite subjects.
ReplyDeleteGreat work!
Hugs, Drora
Thank you Drora.....I have a suspicion that you might make delicious cookies!
DeleteI'm sure little Kitty had the best time baking with her mom! And your scene looks deliciously wonderful! :D
ReplyDeleteThank you! She asks me everyday now if we're going to bake!
DeleteHow fun!
ReplyDeleteThanks Keli!
