Retro Throwback....Reruns And A Beer

I was feeling a bit retro! There's something appealing about mid century design.  It brings back fond childhood memories of the 1990's watching reruns of The Rockford Files, In Search Of (with Leonard Nemoy), Quincy, and Steve McQueen movies.

The Colt beer and the gun says murder mystery to me!

And in other news.......

Still chugging away on my new room box! Grouting bricks tonight. Nothing more fun on a Saturday night, right?

  2. Looks so great! I am not even sure what I like the most: but the rug, the mirror, the couch and the flooring are amazing enough that I sure want them too <3

    1. Thank you! The floor is just scrapbook paper (I haven't tried a real herringbone floor yet!). The rug was surprisingly easy. It was scrap fabric that I applied iron on interfacing to the back for structure. Then I used iron on hemming tape to apply the linen ribbon as a border. Minus burning my fingers on the iron.

  3. It's all about your state of mind. Put on some good music, grab a beer, and wear your comfy pants....grouting is very relaxing. :)

  4. Hi Kat, I really love your mid century look, so comfy. All the little details add to the atmosphere and make it warm and homey. Thanks for including details of where you obtained things.

    1. I didn't make it....wish I could! I really want another one! It's 1980's brass furniture that apparently was often sold at Sears. If you search brass in the Dollhouse Miniatures category on ebay it often shows up. But I've seen them at antique/junk shops too. Most of it is 1:16-1:24 scale.....kinda weird. I think this was a dining table in 1:24, but works better this way!

In theory, I could see making something similar with a large spring coil that was bent and cut. The mesh....well, you know those splatter covers for frying pans? It's a perfect fine mesh. I have one from the dollar store!
