Cooking Up A Kitchen

The mini charity house has been progressing slowly! Miss Kitty's school is taking up lots of time, but I've been squeezing in mini sanity time with this build.

All my Ebay items are every so slowly arriving.  I managed to score a great deal on this kitchen because it was at auction prices.  And when it arrived, the counter and the sink had detached.  I emailed the seller and they gave me a partial refund on it!  After a little glue and fiddling it's all back in one piece.

This was the kitchen before I renovated
I papered the back wall with a tile paper and spray painted the hood and hooks with stainless steel spray paint.  I really wanted to use that blank cabinet as a fridge, but I had to butt the stove section up against it.  So, in this house they have no fridge.....meh.

The amazing Jodi Hippler (My Miniature Madness) sent me a box of goodies for this build, and the faucet worked perfectly!!  Check it out in her Shapeways store!  And then Keli sent me some mini goodies for the build too.  This house will be fully stocked....and apparently I will be building another house next year given the quantity of furniture I have!

And once I finished the kitchen I couldn't resist putting my minis in it to play around.  It's my reward for finishing!

I'm hoping the bathroom vanity arrives soon so I can finish that room next.

Where To Buy / Where To Find

  1. Love how your 'backsplash' looks! I've got a bunch of stuff I've gotten at garage sales and at auction over the years. Is there anything that you're still looking for? I've got a sectional sofa in beige/cream, and some other living room furniture if you'd like it. Lots of other stuff too so please just let me know. I'm trying to think if I have a fridge or not.

    1. Thank you Sheila!! I'm actually overstuffed at the moment, so I will politely decline (though that's tough for the hoarder in me). Keli and Jodi sent so many goodies I can fill next years house!! Yes, I'm already planning that one!

  2. That's a cute kitchen! If you really want a fridge, you could fill in the grooves and paint stainless the left bottom cupboard under the hob. You'd have to put in a divider and maybe an acrylic shelf.

    1. Ha! You and I think the same. But then I got lazy and decided that they will only eat fresh from the market. And enjoy tap water.

    1. I actually decided to not go with a fridge. I don't have enough room in the space. Since it's for kids, they can use their imagination!!

  6. I think that if I were you Kat, that I would be tempted to want to keep this pretty little house, but since it is going to be auctioned for charity, then I KNOW that the lucky recipient is sure to fall in love with it because of all of the Fabulous work you have done and the resulting Beauty of this lovely modern kitchen.

    Well Done! :D

    1. Oh I know!!! I keep staring at it longingly. I was smart, I posted it on Instagram where potential bidders will see it. That way its out there and I can't keep it now!
      Thank you!

    1. Thank you!! The Little Dollhouse Company has lots of great tile papers. The prospect of making tile was not appealing, so paper it is!

    1. Thanks Jodi. Thankfully the kitchen should be the toughest part. The rest is mostly decorating!
