Needlework is something I have enjoyed since I was a child. I have fond memories of watching my mom cross stitch, and that got me started on cross stitch. But time and interests change, and I stopped any needle work until my daughter was born. I desperately wanted to cross stitch her a Christmas stocking. I managed to do it too, just in time for her first Christmas.
When I found miniatures, I was in awe of much of the needlework I saw, it was so tiny! At first it looked impossible, but I jumped right in and much to my surprise, it wasn't any more difficult then cross stitch. However, it is more taxing on your eyes the smaller the cloth count you use.
